UNION CITY, Ind. (WISH) — A 3-mile-long funeral procession traveled from Muncie to Union City on Thursday, escorting Lynn Town Marshal Bradley Fisher to the Reichard Funeral Home.

 Fisher died Wednesday morning after being struck by a stolen van during a police pursuit in Randolph County, the Indiana State Police said. The woman being pursued was in jail Wednesday night. The Randolph County Sheriff’s Department requested that state police investigate the fatal pursuit.

Fisher was a 27-year veteran of the Lynn Police Department, a fire captain, a dispatcher and, most importantly, a family man.

Hundreds of Union City residents lined the streets near the funeral home to honor Fisher one last time.

“When I got that phone call yesterday and I learned that it was Brad, it was just hard to accept,” said Robert Prewitt, a former coworker who worked with Fisher at the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office in Winchester. “He’d do anything for anybody. He wore many hats, and he was a good friend.”

More than a dozen state and local agencies were represented in the procession, including police, fire, and emergency medical services. One onlooker described Fisher as “the kindest soul” and someone people could trust.

“I think through his role and his faith, he was able to help many people,” said Candice Hunt, a mother of two who grew up in Lynn. “He actually helped someone close to me get their life back on track.”

Others said Fisher never had a “cross word” for anyone and was always happy.

“I know that growing up in a small town. … Lynn is definitely not going to let him be forgotten, or the sacrifices he made,” Hunt said.

There has been no official word on a public service at this time, though a vigil was held Thursday night in Lynn.
