NORTH VERNON, Ind. (WISH) — A child died when a tree fell on a house during Tuesday afternoon’s storms, the deputy chief of the Jennings County Sheriff’s Office said.
Deputy Chief Cody Low said Jennings County dispatch received a call about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday of a 4-year-old trapped by a tree that fell on the home during a storm.
The call came from a Geneva Township home about 1-1/2 miles northwest of the city of North Vernon.
The child’s gender and identity were not yet being shared publicly.
North Vernon is about an 80-minute drive south-southeast of downtown Indianapolis.
