CHESTERFIELD, Ind. (WISH) — A man has been arrested after crashing his truck into the White River Thursday, according to the Madison County Sheriff’s Department.
Just after 9 a.m. Thursday, Madison County deputies responded to a report of a truck in the White River near the area of County Road 100 North and County Road 300 East. Deputies arrived and observed a Chevrolet pickup truck submerged in the White River. The truck was eastbound on County Road 100 North, and crashed through the guardrail after failing to negotiate a turn in the roadway and slid down a steep embankment before entering the water.
Water rescue units were activated, and investigators learned there was no occupant in the vehicle or signs of anyone nearby.
Deputies learned the truck is registered to Michael Jennings, 41, of Anderson, Indiana. Jennings was found at his apartment a short time later. He was uninjured in the crash, but was taken to a local hospital, where he was checked and released.
Jennings has been arrested and preliminarily charged with leaving the scene of an accident, possession of a legend drug, possession of marijuana, and possession of paraphernalia. He was transported to the Madison County Jail.
