ISO to perform Dolly Parton’s “Threads”
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra is launching its 2025-26 season with a program dedicated to one of the most beloved musical icons of all time: Dolly Parton.
The ISO will perform “Dolly Parton’s Threads: My Songs in Symphony” on Friday and Saturday at Hilbert Circle Theatre in downtown Indianapolis.
This innovative show features Dolly Parton’s iconic songs arranged for orchestra, with Parton herself appearing via multimedia presentation to introduce the music and share stories behind the songs.
“It’s a new touring show that Dolly Parton herself put together when symphonies around the country were asking to do her music,” James Johnson, CEO of the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, said Friday on Daybreak.
The performance includes beloved hits such as “Jolene,” “‘Light of a Clear Blue Morning,” and “Islands in the Stream”.
“The encore is going to be everybody’s favorite. I promise, you’ll be dancing in the aisles,” Johnson added.
In addition to the music, the event features a signature “9 to 5” cocktail, named after the classic 1980 film of the same name starring Parton, Lily Tomlin, and Jane Fonda.
Tickets for the event start at $20, with a discounted rate of $15 for students.
The orchestra is also planning a diverse season with concerts every weekend, including Beethoven X Beyoncé on Oct. 15, “Home Alone” in Concert in November, AES Indiana Yuletide Celebration starting Dec. 5, and The Three Mexican Tenors in January.
