Epicurean Indy
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Sunday marks one of central Indiana’s most sumptuous days. Epicurean Indy returns for a one-stop trip all the way around the culinary world.
“This is the second year of this event,” Hae Lee Cho in a visit to WISH-TV’s Daybreak, capping off her week spreading word about the food fest. “We’re going to have local artists and music and over 50 vendors representing diverse culture here in the city of Indianapolis.”
Fletcher Place hosts the event, from 11 a.m. -3 p.m. Sunday. Vendors set up shop throughout the neighborhood. You don’t need a ticket and there is no cost to attend, but organizers say wise visitors will pack enough hunger and dollars to sample the flavors of several cultures.
Lete Zewoldai is a new vendor this year, offering Eritrean specialties from Lete’s Injera and Cafe. She showed nimble multi-tasking live on Daybreak, roasting coffee beans over an open flame while showing off her signature dish.
“Injera is traditional food in Eritrea. Vegan and meat, different meats, different vegetables,” she explained “You eat by hand. Dip in the stew, and then you eat. Very delicious!”
Organizers acknowledge parking may seem to be day’s most daunting task, but the use of a certain corporate campus nearby should make it considerably easier.
“Don’t be scared,” Cho says, “There will be ample (streetside) parking. And for extra parking spots, we can use Lilly (lot) 48!”
