INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A 35-year-old illegal immigrant residing in Indianapolis was sentenced to 35 years for the sexual exploitation of a child, the U.S. Department of Justice said Tuesday in a news release.
Carlos Fredy Granados had pleaded guilty to charges including sexual exploitation of a child, coercion and enticement of a minor, and possession of child pornography.
Following his prison term, he could be deported. The release did not say which country Granados is from.
Federal authorities did not provide a photo of Granados in the release, and he was not listed as an inmate in the Marion County jail on Tuesday.
Authorities say Granados between May 2023 and August 2023 exploited a 15-year-old girl under his care, producing images and videos of the abuse. The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department responded to a report of child sexual abuse on Oct. 28, 2023, after a witness found nude images and videos on Granados’ phone. Investigators discovered 12 sexually explicit videos and 16 images of the minor, some featuring Granados. The videos and images were created in both a shared home and a hotel. Additionally, explicit messages between Granados and the victim were found, discussing their sexual relationship and exchanging explicit content.
