Community gathers at Delaware County Sheriff’s Office for procession of Corporal Blake Reynolds
MUNCIE, Ind. (WISH) — After the funeral of Delaware County Corporal Blake Reynolds, community members paid their respects at the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office. They listened in as dispatchers issued the fallen officer’s final call over the radio.
A few dozen people were gathered to witness the emotional moments. The procession came to a stop near the place Reynolds worked for four years.
“On Nov. 12, 2025, Delaware County Corporal Blake Reynolds answered his final call,” the dispatcher said over the radio. “While assisting a motorist on Interstate 69, Corporal Reynolds was struck by a passing vehicle. Delaware County Corporal Blake Reynolds 1818 is 10-42 for the final time. He has gone home to be with the lord.”
As the maintenance superintendent for the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office, James Brooks spoke with Reynolds often. He says he will remember him for his friendly and genuine personality.
“It’s a shame to lose someone so well in the community like that,” Brooks said. “Every time that he wanted to say hi or something, he’d stop and have a conversation with you. He’d always take the time out for everybody.”
Some in the crowd say they didn’t know Reynolds personally. They stood not too far from where a memorial for the first responder stands since the news of his death.
Among those was April Olsen, a paramedic.
“We all work together,” Olsen said. “We communicate together. [First responders] go together, and just be united as one.
St. Joseph County Patrolman Jax Ohda was a part of the honor guard for the services. He says it was a humbling experience.
“It really means the world to us [for the community] coming together to show support for that family,” Ohda said. “A big thank you to that officer that died doing what he loved.”
Following the 10-42 call, the procession continued to Reynolds’ final resting place at Jones Cemetery in Yorktown.
