Reports: Jonathan Taylor signs two-year contract extension with Colts

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Jonathan Taylor has signed a two-year contract extension with the Indianapolis Colts.

According to reports from ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the deal is worth $44 million, with a total value up to $47 million. It includes $39 million guaranteed.

This is the largest third contract ever given to a running back in NFL history.

Taylor, a three-time Pro Bowl selection, has 7,598 rushing yards and 76 touchdowns in his career. Last season, he ran for 1,585 yards, scored 20 total touchdowns, and led the NFL with 323 rushing attempts.

He is 27 years old and entering his seventh season — all with the Colts.

Taylor has openly expressed his commitment to Indianapolis, telling WISH-TV:

“I’d definitely love to be a Colt for life. I think I’ve already expressed that to them throughout the years. Just from college coming here, you grow up a little bit to a young man, and then now, growing into an adult, this is like a third home of mine. I’ve definitely expressed that, and hopefully, they feel the same because this is a special place.”
