INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — An early morning crash on Indianapolis’ north side claimed the lives of two men and sent three others to the hospital, Indianapolis police reported Wednesday.
Online police reports show the call for a crash with injuries came in at the intersection of 86th and Meridian streets just before 3 a.m.
When Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers arrived, they found two vehicles had been involved in a crash.
Police say an SUV ran the red light, slamming into a car going east on 86th Street.
The driver of the car and a passenger in the SUV, both men, died at the scene. Three other men, all riding in the SUV, were taken by medics to hospitals. Two of the victims were in critical condition, while the other is considered “stable.”
The lanes of the intersection, except northbound Meridian Street, will be closed for several hours while crews investigate.
