INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Two people were taken to the hospital Friday night after a shooting in a housing addition on the east side, police said.
One person was in critical condition while the other was stable.
No information was immediately available on the people shot.
Medics and Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were called to a report of a person shot just after 10:10 p.m. Friday in the 1900 block of Dequincy Street. Later, the police were redirected to another nearby address in the 1900 block of Kildare Avenue. It’s the East 21st Gardens addition southeast of the I-70 interchange for Emerson Avenue.
According to Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Sgt. Christopher Higgins, officers arrived and found one person had been shot who was awake and breathing.
Higgins later reported officers found a second victim but did not specify that person’s injuries.
It was not immediately known what may have led to the shooting or if any people were in custody.
Police said they plan to give another update at about 12:45 p.m.
