INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Central Indiana is set to experience a shift starting today, with dry and mostly sunny conditions giving way to rain after midnight.

Today:

Today begins with a chilly and dry start, with morning lows in the low to mid 30s. Skies will remain mostly clear to partly cloudy as clouds move in from Illinois. Highs will top out in the lower to middle 50s, which is close to the seasonal normal for this time of year.

Tonight:

Tonight, rain is expected to develop in western Indiana after midnight due to an upper-level system moving out of the Plains. Most of central Indiana will experience rain by Tuesday morning. A few rumbles of thunder can’t be ruled out.

Tuesday:

Tuesday will see rain continuing throughout the day, with higher rainfall totals expected in the southern parts of the state, potentially reaching up to 0.50″. The rain is expected to taper off from northwest to southeast by Tuesday night.

Late week rain chances:

A brief break in the wet weather is anticipated on Wednesday, with dry and mild conditions. Rain chances will increase again from Thursday through the weekend, with the possibility of embedded thunderstorms. While no severe weather is expected, heavy rainfall will be possible – especially with the system moving in Thursday and Friday.

7 day forecast:

Long range pattern keeps our temperatures running above average through the holiday week next week. There are signs of a big dip in temperatures around or just after Thanksgiving, that might flip the switch to Winter conditions across central Indiana. Still many details to iron out about that in the coming day.s
