Warm and dry weather to persist in central Indiana, drought conditions worsen | Sept. 30, 2025

Marcus’ 4 a.m. Tuesday forecast

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Unseasonably warm and dry weather, with temperatures reaching the mid-80s and potentially nearing record highs in Indianapolis by Friday and Saturday.

A large upper-level ridge is pushing in well-above-average temperatures across the region. This weather pattern is expected to keep the area dry and rain-free through at least the end of the weekend.

Today:

Look for mostly clear skies and very low humidity. A subtle northwest flow in the upper levels should help cool our temps a bit compared to Monday. Despite this, daytime highs will remain significantly above the early October norm of 71°F.

Tonight:

Overnight, calm and clear conditions may lead to patchy dense fog, particularly in the Wabash River Valley and agricultural areas. Fog will not be a widespread issue for most of central Indiana.

October starts very warm:

The extended forecast shows a persistent ridge dominating the eastern two-thirds of North America, maintaining quiet and dry conditions across our state. Daytime highs will range from the low to mid-80s, with the warmest temperatures arriving late week.

No rain in sight:

Drought conditions are expected to worsen as the lack of significant rainfall continues. While a weak disturbance from the Gulf Coast could bring stray showers by early next week, the probability of meaningful precipitation remains very low.
