Marcus’ 4 a.m. Thursday forecast
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Another round of heat advisories are in place for Thursday afternoon.
Heat Advisory and Air Quality Concerns
A strong high-pressure ridge will keep us mostly quiet Thursday, though stagnant air will worsen air quality in parts of the state. A heat advisory is in effect from noon to 8 p.m. for northern and northeastern sections of central Indiana, including parts of the Indianapolis metro area.

Air quality alerts are in place for northern Indiana for wildfire smoke coming down from Canada.
Isolated Storms Possible This Evening
While much of Thursday will remain dry, isolated showers and thunderstorms may develop after 4 p.m. as the high-pressure ridge begins to weaken. The best chances for these spotty storms are in far northern and far southwestern Indiana.
Most areas will see little to no rain , but any storms that do develop could produce brief heavy downpours and frequent lightning.
Stormy Pattern Arrives Friday
A more active weather pattern begins Friday as a disturbance moving through the region interacts with hot, humid air, triggering numerous showers and thunderstorms by afternoon.

Rain coverage will be much more widespread Friday compared to Thursday, with multiple rounds of storms possible throughout the day.
Strong Storm Potential Saturday
Storm intensity may increase Saturday as a cold front approaches the state.
While widespread severe weather is not expected, the strongest storms could produce isolated damaging wind gusts. Localized flooding is also a concern due to heavy rainfall rates, especially in areas that receive multiple rounds of storms.
Relief Early Next Week
Sunday should bring a return to quieter weather as high pressure builds back into the region. Looking ahead to next week, another system is expected to arrive late Monday or Tuesday.
Early data suggests this disturbance could finally usher in a cooler and drier pattern by the middle of next week, providing more comfortable conditions after several days of heat and humidity.
