Unseasonably warm week ahead | Sept. 29, 2025

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Unseasonably warm and dry weather is expected to persist throughout the week, with temperatures reaching the upper 80s and potentially hitting 90°F in some areas.

A large upper-level ridge and high-pressure system are driving these conditions, resulting in warm afternoons and mostly clear skies. Although a slight cool-down is anticipated on Tuesday due to northeasterly winds, temperatures will remain well above average for late September.

Clear and calm nights will create conditions for patchy areas of dense fog, particularly near rivers and agricultural areas. Widespread fog is not anticipated.

The warm and dry pattern is expected to continue through the end of the weekend, as a strengthening ridge over the central and eastern U.S. keeps the hot dome of air overhead. Canadian high-pressure will reinforce clear skies and warm afternoons.

Highs will generally remain in the low to mid-80s throughout the week, with a potential dip to the upper 70s on Thursday in eastern areas due to cooler Canadian air. Morning lows will be in the 50s, with some northeastern counties experiencing lows near 50°F midweek.

Rain chances are near 0 through the weekend, as the upper and surface ridges prevent moisture from moving into the Midwest.
