Trump reacts to redistricting vote/State senator house swatted/Panel says redistricting not dead yet – News 8 at 10
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — President Donald Trump is criticizing Indiana State Senate Republicans on Truth Social, saying that he is “very disappointed” that they are not moving ahead with redistricting. Trump also claimed that Gov. Mike Braun, a Republican, “wouldn’t be governor” without his support.
The criticism comes after Indiana Senate President Pro Tempore Rod Bray, a Republican, announced Friday that the Senate would not convene in December to vote on redistricting due to a lack of support. Traditionally, redistricting occurs every ten years following the census.
The Trump administration has been pushing for Indiana to redraw its congressional maps in an attempt to secure Republican seats in the 2026 midterm elections. The decision not to move ahead with redistricting follows months of extensive discussions among Senate Republicans and visits from Vice President JD Vance to lobby for the effort.
In his Truth Social post, President Trump takes issue with Braun, a vocal supporter of mid-cycle redistricting. He describes Braun as “a friend of mine” but goes on to say that Braun “wouldn’t be governor without me!” and suggests that Braun “is, perhaps, not working the way he should to get the necessary votes.”
Trump also takes issue Bray and State Sen. Greg Goode, saying, “Because of these two politically correct type ‘gentlemen,’ and a few others, they could be depriving Republicans of a Majority in the House, a VERY BIG DEAL!”
The president closes his Truth Social post by saying that Bray, Goode, and the others “should do their job and do it now,” and if not, “let’s get them out of office ASAP.”
