Second system inbound through Wednesday with more rain/storms | Sep. 22, 2025

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — More in the way of rain and storms are ahead through midweek after a wet start to fall.

Monday night: We’re dry into tonight, but we’ll track the potential for some dense fog across the region. This would cause delays to the morning commute and possibly for some schools. Lows in the mid 60s.

Tuesday: A mainly dry day is ahead until Tuesday night with development moving in from our next system. Before we get to that after sunset, highs will rise into the upper 70s to low 80s for what will be a warmer day overall under mostly cloudy skies.

Wednesday: Tuesday night’s activity carries through Wednesday in on and off fashion with potential for some thunderstorms and heavy rain at times. However, the track of this upcoming system is still uncertain. A track further to the north will put us in line for more, and some heavier, rain. If this tracks more south, rain may not be as widespread and closer to the order of sporadic coverage.

There is also an isolated risk for stronger storms Wednesday south of Indy with damaging wind the primary hazard. It’s worth noting too with the low right by us in tandem with low cloud bases, we may have some rotating storms in the southern third of Indiana for any additional development in the afternoon/evening hours. Now, this is a big IF the low decides to track more north into Indiana and brings a little more instability. Concern is quite low with this for now, but we’ll keep an eye on it.

Highs in the mid 70s.

7-Day Forecast: A few showers may linger into Thursday before we fully dry out by Friday. Additional rainfall amounts for some areas of 1″-2″ are possible through midweek, and locally higher amounts of 2″-3″ cannot be ruled out if persistent heavier rain bands set up. Heading into this weekend, temperatures will rebound again towards the upper 70s.
