Man dead in Cumberland shooting
CUMBERLAND, Ind. (WISH) — A man was fatally injured in a shooting on Dunshire Drive Sunday, according to the Cumberland Metropolitan Police Department.
Shortly before 7 p.m. Sunday, Cumberland officers were dispatched to the 11300 block of Dunshire Drive on a report of a person shot. That is a residential area. Officers arrived and found a man suffering from gunshot wounds. The man was transported to an Indianapolis hospital in critical condition.
The man was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
Investigators believe this shooting was done in self-defense. A witness is cooperating with investigators and there is no threat to the community.
