BROWNSBURG, Ind. — A food truck making waves in Brownsburg is back on the streets, reigniting taste buds with generous portions and locally sourced delights. Chef Jason Anderson, a Johnson & Wales graduate and experienced executive chef with a 15-year tenure at Wabash College, is once again at the helm of Kickstand — his food truck specializing in pressed sandwiches that turn simple ingredients into savory celebrations.
Anderson isn’t just known for his culinary skills — he’s also a dedicated instructor at Arsenal Tech High School, sharing his expertise with up-and-coming chefs. His career spans multiple downtown restaurant kitchens and teaching roles at the Chef’s Academy and Ivy Tech. Kickstand was born in 2015 and, after a sabbatical between 2019 and 2023, it is gearing up for a big relaunch in fall 2024.
Kickstand’s signature is its pressed sandwiches featuring local ingredients, like brisket from RK Cattle Company in North Salem and pork from Gordon Family Farms.
“We keep it real with whole butter, and you will not find spray oils or seed oils in our kitchen,” Anderson said during a recent “Food Truck Friday” segment.
Fans rave about the Cuban press and the Brownsburg press — a customer-inspired favorite. Other hits include the brisket press on sourdough from Toronto Bakery in Chicago (with plans for a local bread source) and indulgent options like the ultimate grilled cheese made from four cheeses or the signature BLT with a generous dozen bacon strips.
The name reflects Anderson’s passion for his Harley-Davidson motorcycles and the food truck’s origins at motorcycle events. His 11-year-old daughter, Emma, is part of the team, helping run operations and adding a family touch to the business.
