INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The Indianapolis Zoo is removing the Kōmbo Family Coaster and the Skyline overhead tram next year to make room for larger animal exhibits.
Indianapolis Zoo officials provided News 8 with the following statement Thursday:
“With unanimous Board approval, the Indianapolis Zoo will remove both the skyline and the rollercoaster, opening significant space for new or expanded animal exhibits. Work is planned to begin in Q1 2026 to remove the rides, which no longer align with the mission of the Zoo or the long-term plans for our campus.
The project will open more than an acre of space, which is significant for a landlocked Zoo such as ours. We are excited about the possibilities this creates for us as we continue to protect nature and inspire people to care for our world.”
