Hot weather continues with spotty shower chances this weekend | Sept. 19, 2025

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Very warm to hot conditions will persist into Saturday, with a marginally elevated fire threat due to heat and low relative humidity.

Today:

The weather pattern remains stagnant due to an upper ridge that continues to influence hot and dry conditions. While light winds are expected to limit fire concerns, the heat and low relative humidity may still pose a marginally elevated fire threat.

The dry conditions are expected to persist throughout the day, with temperatures similar to those of Thursday. The record high for today in Indy is 93°.

This weekend:

On Saturday, the hot conditions will continue, with the upper ridge maintaining a dry weather pattern. There are some hints of some spotty shower chances through the day. Rain chances should be very isolated through the day.

Wet weather next week?

From Sunday through Tuesday, the weather will shift as a new wave moves in, bringing increased humidity and daily chances of showers and thunderstorms. The peak chances for showers and thunderstorms will occur from Sunday night through Monday night.

By Wednesday and Thursday, scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms are possible as an upper level low potentially camps out over the Midwest. Temperatures will cool significantly remain slightly above normal for late September, with highs in the 70s and lows near 60°F.

7 day rainfall numbers are looking better, with potentially over an inch of rain for most of the state by the end of next week.
