GREENFIELD, Ind.— A 42-acre farm in Greenfield is giving visitors a chance to meet Scottish Highland cows while raising money for organizations that support people with special needs.

Terri Stacy of WIBC recently visited Remarkable Ranch with Pet Pals TV host Patty Spitler and WISH-TV anchor Gina Glaros to discuss the farm’s mission and upcoming Halloween fundraiser.

Owned by Mark and Luann Kramer and their daughter, Brianna, Remarkable Ranch offers tours, breeds Highland cattle and provides therapeutic community outreach.

“These beautiful creatures” are “actually therapeutic,” Stacy said, describing the shaggy cattle as friendly animals that visitors can meet, hug and photograph.

The ranch welcomes groups looking for therapeutic experiences, including people with special needs. Before the television crew’s visit, the family was preparing to host survivors of domestic violence.

Stacy said the ranch’s origins date to a trip Luann Kramer and her daughter took to Ireland. They saw Scottish Highland cows, inspiring Luann to call her husband with a request.

“She called her husband and said, ‘We need these cows,’” Stacy said.

The ranch has since developed a mission that extends beyond raising cattle. Stacy said proceeds from tours and other activities help fund organizations such as Special Olympics and groups serving people with special abilities or special needs.

“The bigger picture is with their profits that they make from tours and from things that go on, they put that all into organizations like a Special Olympics,” Stacy said.

Remarkable Ranch planned a Halloween fundraiser for Saturday, Oct. 31, featuring a concert by Clayton Anderson, trick-or-treating, food and drinks. Children can attend for free.

Stacy described the property as “a hidden gem here in central Indiana” and encouraged people to visit and support the ranch.
