Marcus’ 4 a.m. Friday forecast
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Dense fog to start the day, with humid conditions returning this afternoon. A late-night storm chance develops, followed by a significant pattern change this weekend.
This Morning
We’re tracking dense fog across central Indiana, particularly impacting low-lying areas in Marion, Johnson, Hendricks, and Hamilton counties. Visibility is down to a quarter-mile or less in some spots, so allow extra time for the morning commute. Look for the fog to lift between 9 and 10 a.m. as a light southwesterly breeze develops. Temperatures at daybreak are in the upper 60s to near 70°.
Today
After the fog clears, we will see a return to more humid conditions this afternoon. Expect a mix of sun and clouds with highs reaching the mid 80s. Dew points climb into the upper 60s, giving it that sticky, summery feel.
Tonight
Our next weather system—a quick hitting front will bring increased moisture into the state late tonight. Look for isolated showers and thunderstorms to develop after midnight. A few downpours are possible, but for most, rainfall amounts will remain light.

Weekend Outlook
Saturday
The shower and storm threat continues into Saturday morning, then shifts eastward by afternoon. Highs reach the low 80s, before a significant pattern change takes hold. A strong Canadian high-pressure system begins to push southward Saturday evening, ushering out the humidity and bringing in much drier air.
Saturday Night into Sunday
The front clears the area by late Saturday night. Look for skies to clear and humidity levels to drop noticeably. Overnight lows fall into the upper 50s to low 60s. Sunday will feature abundant sunshine with highs only in the mid to upper 70s. It will feel more like mid-September than late August.
7-Day Forecast
Slightly below average temperatures for much of the week. Our next best chance for rain arrives on Wednesday, but rainfall amounts look to be low – which is great news!
