MUNCIE, Ind. (WISH) — A pipe near Ball State University’s Teachers College burst Thursday evening, causing parts of the sidewalk to collapse.
It was caused by a leak in the university’s geothermal heating and cooling system. BSU sent a statement out Wednesday saying to expect an air conditioning outage in most buildings on campus.
“Wednesday evening, our University experienced a leak in the geothermal heating and cooling system that resulted in a campus-wide chilled water outage,” the university said in the statement.
BSU has not yet released a statement about the burst pipe.
Indiana is in the midst of a heat wave. The high temperature on Thursday in Muncie was 93°F.
