INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A male died Thursday evening after a vehicle struck his motorized scooter south of downtown, police said.
Medics and Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers responded to the crash at the intersection of East Pleasant Run Parkway North Drive and East Beecher Street shortly after 5:15 p.m. Thursday. The crash happened in an area with homes and industrial buildings, a few blocks northwest of the Interstate 65 interchange at East Raymond Street.
Police found the male at the scene with critical injuries. Emergency crews took him to a nearby hospital, where he later died. Authorities have not yet released the male’s name or age.
The driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene. IMPD did not say what type of vehicle hit the motorized scooter.
Police investigators do not believe drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash. IMPD crash investigators shortly after 6 p.m. Thursday worked to determine the cause of the collision.
