INDIANAPOLIS — Indianapolis police say a man is dead after a shooting on the east side early Friday morning.
The incident took place just before 2:30 a.m. this morning at an apartment complex at 42nd Street and Mitthoefer Road.
IMPD was originally called for a domestic dispute, but on the way, people at the scene say someone was shot.
When officers arrived, they found a man with gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators initially thought the shooting was connected to the earlier domestic disturbance call, but later confirmed the incidents were not related.
Now, the police are asking people to use better conflict-resolution skills.
“If you can’t talk it out, maybe get somebody, a friend, a neutral family member that understands both sides to be a moderator in between,” IMPD Capt. Don Weilhammer said at the scene. “If that doesn’t work, just walk away; it’s much better to walk away and visit another day.”
Investigators say they do not have any suspects at this time.
Anyone with information was asked to contact Det. Chris Winter at the IMPD Homicide Office at 317-327-3475 or by email at Christopher.Winter@indy.gov.
