INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The July death of a 1-year-old boy on the city’s northwest side is now being investigated as a homicide.
According to a release sent Monday by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, on July 11 at approximately 11:30 p.m., officers were called to the 1300 block of North Delaware Street, near East 13th Street, on a report of a death investigation involving a toddler.
That location is the Indy Flats, a high-rise apartment complex.
When officers arrived, they found the 1-year-old unresponsive. He was taken to the hospital where he later died.
Homicide detectives responded to the scene to begin the investigation. The Indianapolis-Marion County Forensic Services Agency responded to assist in identifying and collecting evidence.
Police say the Marion County Coroner’s Office will determine the exact manner and cause of death.
