COLUMBUS, Ind. (WISH) — A man is dead after a crash in Bartholomew County, Indiana State Police said.
Just before 7:30 a.m. Thursday, state troopers responded to a deadly two-vehicle crash on State Road 11 near County Road 800 South.
An initial investigation determined a 2009 Pontiac G6, driven by a 17-year-old Seymour girl was traveling northbound on State Road 11 and crossed the centerline into the path of a southbound 2020 Hyundai Sonata, driven by Aparicio Martin-Bartolome, 18, also from Seymour. State police said the vehicles collided nearly head on.
After the collision both vehicles left the roadway before coming to rest. The 17-year-old driver was taken to an Indianapolis aera hospital with serious injuries. Martin-Bartolome was taken to Columbus Regional Hospital for treatment. A 15-year-old passenger in the rear seat of Martin-Bartolome’s vehicle was taken to an Indianapolis area hospital for treatment. Pascual Baltazar-Pascual, a 42-year-old from Seymour in the front passenger seat of Martin-Bartolome’s vehicle, died at the scene.
ISP did not give any further details on the occupants of the vehicles.
State Police said toxicology results are pending and that Baltazar-Pascual’s family has been notified.
The investigation is ongoing.
