INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Two Indianapolis Metropolitan Police officers and a suspect are stable after an exchange of gunfire on the west side of the city.
IMPD said at about 2:30 Friday afternoon, IMPD SWAT officers served a narcotics warrant in the 300 block of North Flemming Street when a suspect fired at them, injuring two officers.
The suspect then retreated into a home as officers returned fire.
After negotiating with officers, the suspect surrendered at about 3:15 p.m. The person was struck by gunfire and was last reported to be stable in police custody.
IMPD said they do not believe there is a public safety threat any longer.
Police are asking the public to continue to avoid the area as “there will be a heavy police presence here for the next few hours.”
