LAWRENCE, Ind. (WISH) — A 4-year-old child was struck by a vehicle while riding a scooter Saturday evening, according to the Lawrence Police Department.
At 5:35 p.m. Saturday, Lawrence officers were dispatched to the intersection of East 47th Street and North Longworth Road after a 4-year-old child was struck by a vehicle while riding a scooter.
The child was with their parents when officers arrived. Medics with the Lawrence Fire Department advised the child may have suffered a broken leg, and the child was transported to the hospital for further evaluation and treatment.
Officers made contact with the driver involved, and no immediate signs of impairment were observed. The Lawrence Police Department Investigation Team responded and assumed investigation of the incident. They will conduct a full diagram and reconstruction of the accident based on evidence from the scene and witness statements.
