INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark missed the last 22 games of the regular season and the entire postseason run with a groin and ankle injury.
Clark opened up about dealing with the injuries at her exit interview on Thursday.
In her second full court workout when she was recovering from her groin injury, Clark said she went to make a move and her ankle rolled all the way forward.
She said it was one of the worst sprains she’s dealt with.
“My ankle didn’t allow me to really see where my groin was at,” Clark said.
She added that she started feeling her best in the last couple weeks.
“There was no decision of, this is the end of my season,” Clark said. “I had full intention of returning. I think, in a way, that was probably positive for me because that’s how I approached every single day. I came in here like I was going to play. I was going to get back out on the court, and it probably would’ve been even more devastating and crushing knowing that I was never going to be able to put my uniform back on for the rest of the season.”
Clark said her goal is to be able to play five-on-five by the end of October.
Clark also said that she’s had a really good perspective on all the injury issues, which is what she’s the most proud of.
Clark played in just 13 games in the 2025 season. She averaged 16.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 8.8 assists per game.
The Fever’s season ended in overtime in the winner-take-all Game 5 of the WNBA semifinals against the Las Vegas Aces. It was the farthest the Fever have made it in the playoffs since 2015.
