INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The tropics in the Atlantic have been pretty quiet over the last couple of weeks.
September is the peak of hurricane season, and action is finally picking back up again.

Hurricane Gabrielle has intensified rapidly into a major hurricane in the open Atlantic. As of 2 p.m. Eastern time Monday, Sept. 22, the storm had maximum winds of 120 mph with a sea level pressure down to 955 millibars.
Gabrielle is no threat to the U.S., but it will bring impacts to the small island of Bermuda.
Behind Gabrielle, there are two separate tropical waves that could develop in the next seven days. It’s too early to know exactly if these systems could impact the U.S.
