ATLANTA (WISH) — The Indiana Fever continues to make history.
The Fever beat the Atlanta Dream 87-85 in Game 3 of their WNBA first-round playoff series Thursday night. As a result, Indiana wins the best-of-three game series 2-1.
It’s Indiana’s first time winning a playoff series since the 2015 East Finals against the New York Liberty.
Fever forward Aliyah Boston scored the game-winning layup with 7.4 seconds remaining. Her shot made it an 86-85 Fever lead. Indiana would add a free throw from guard Odyssey Sims in the closing seconds.
The Dream had a chance to win the game as time expired but a Brionna Jones three-pointer was off the mark.
Fever guard Kelsey Mitchell led all scorers with 24 points.
One of the key stats that determined the outcome of the game was turnovers. Atlanta committed 14 turnovers compared to Indiana’s five.
Indiana will face either the Las Vegas Aces or the Seattle Storm in the semifinal round of the playoffs. Those two teams are also playing in a winner-take-all Game 3 of their first-round playoff series on Thursday night.
