INDIANAPOLIS — A 9-year-old boy is dead, and a 6-year-old boy is injured after they were struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run crash Sunday afternoon on the city’s northwest side.
According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, at 1:33 p.m., officers were called to the 6700 block of Eagle Pointe Drive North on a report of a child lying in the street.
That location is an apartment complex located off West 46th Street and Inland Drive East.

Arriving officers found two children who had been hit by a vehicle.
The vehicle that hit the children did not stay on the scene, according to police.
The 9-year-old boy was taken to the hospital in critical condition, where he later died. The other child is in stable condition, police say.

At this time, police say they are unable to share details on the striking vehicle.
