01-15-2026 Peru Community School evacuation
PERU, Ind. (WISH) — A reported threat against Peru Junior-Senior High School Thursday has prompted the evacuation of all students and staff from the building.
The Peru Police Department posted about the investigation on Facebook around 10 a.m. Thursday.
All staff and students have been moved to a “secure location,” police say, but it was unclear where.
Investigators also did not provide further information regarding the threat, only stating that “multiple public safety agencies and law enforcement officials are on scene actively assessing the situation and ensuring everyone’s safety.”
Peru Community Schools on social media said it will keep families updated with new information once available.
Families were asked to pick up their students at the “Circus Building,” while buses would begin transporting other students home around 11:30 a.m.
Drivers were asked to avoid the area while first responders are on the scene.
This is a developing story.
