NOBLESVILLE, Ind. (WISH) — The Reimagine Pleasant Street project in Noblesville on Monday touted the opening of Pleasant Street to traffic from River Road to State Road 32/Westfield Road.
It marked the completion of the third phase of the project, which includes the construction of a new multilane roundabout at the intersection of State Road 32 and Hague Road, a new bridge over Cicero Creek, and road construction from River Road to State Road 32.
The project also features several pedestrian and bicycle trail connections throughout Noblesville, including pedestrian tunnels under State Road 32 and Pleasant Street to provide safe crossings for the Midland Trace Trail and Hague Road Trail.
The Midland Trace Trail extension now connects with the Riverwalk Trail and Nickel Plate Trail, although the section between State Road 32 and River Road is not yet open. It is expected to open by the end of November, weather permitting.
Phase 2 of the project remains underway, focusing on Pleasant Street from 13th Street to 19th Street. Once completed, Pleasant Street will offer a critical east-west connection from State Road 32 to State Road 37.
The total cost for the Reimagine Pleasant Street project is $125 million, which includes the city’s portion of approximately $98 million and Hamilton County’s $15 million contribution for the White River bridge. The project is being funded through a strategy including city finances, private investment, grant funding, and impact fees.
