BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (WISH) — Coming off a season in which IU football won its first national championship, the Hoosiers had multiple players selected in the first round of the NFL Draft for the first time in program history.

Round 1 (No. 1 overall): Las Vegas Raiders select quarterback Fernando Mendoza
Mendoza won the Heisman Trophy in 2025, becoming the first IU player to win the award. Mendoza threw for 3,535 yards and led the nation with 41 touchdown passes.
Round 1 (No. 30 overall): New York Jets select wide receiver Omar Cooper Jr.
Cooper Jr. had 69 catches for 937 yards and 13 touchdowns in 2025. In his career at IU. Cooper had 115 catches for 1,798 yards and 22 touchdowns.
Round 2 (No. 50 overall): New York Jets select cornerback D’Angelo Ponds
Ponds had 80 tackles, five interceptions, 20 passes defended, and 8.5 tackles for loss in his two seasons with IU. He also had two interception return touchdowns and a punt block return touchdown.
