Greenfield heart recipient gets chance to thank lifesaving pilot

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A Greenfield man who received a second chance at life will get to personally meet and thank the man who helped save his life.

Jason Haddix, of Greenfield, is a former firefighter who is a 911 operator in Hancock County. His daily work is to save lives. Haddix’s life was saved in 2023 after a hero decided to be an organ donor. Haddix, in desperate need of a heart transplant, was matched with a donor in Missouri. Indiana Donor Network matched with that donor’s wishes in Missouri.

TxJet, which solely recovers lifesaving donated organs and by air transports them to transplant hospitals throughout the U.S., brought Haddix’s lifesaving gift to Indianapolis for his successful transplant.

On Wednesday, Haddix and his family will meet his lifesaving pilot for the very first time, have the chance to say “thank you,” and spend time getting to know the pilot, Brandon Snyder.

Indiana Donor Network and TxJet arranged for Haddix and his family to meet Snyder, tour TxJet operations, and experience his pilot’s dedication to saving lives through lifesaving organ recovery and transport by experiencing a mission-based flight aboard a TxJet aircraft.
