DANVILLE, Ind. (WISH) — Hendricks County sheriff’s deputies are investigating a fatal single-vehicle crash that occurred early Saturday morning.
At about 1:50 a.m. Aug. 29, 2026, deputies responded to a report of a vehicle on fire near the intersection of County Road 350 South and Cartersburg Road. A passerby first reported the fire to authorities.
Upon arrival, deputies determined a white Volkswagen was traveling northbound on Cartersburg Road when it left the roadway. The vehicle traveled for some distance before striking a tree and catching fire.
After the fire was extinguished, the driver and sole occupant was pronounced dead at the scene.
Deputies say it is not yet known if drugs or alcohol were factors in the collision.
