Central Indiana finally gets some much-needed rain over the next few days | Sept. 22, 2025

Marcus’ 4 a.m. Monday forecast

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Moderate to heavy rainfall, particularly in southern areas, with localized amounts reaching up to 2 inches.

Today:

Light rain is moving across eastern Illinois and western Indiana. Showers and thunderstorms in Missouri and southern Illinois will move northeast, increasing the likelihood of precipitation across most areas.

This afternoon, another wave will impact the southeastern half of central Indiana. High chances for rain will continue in southeastern portions of the state, with lower chances to the northwest.

Tonight:

Rain chances will diminish from northwest to southeast. Light winds and a moist surface may result in patchy fog, especially if cloud cover breaks.

Low temperatures fall to the lower 60s.

Several more rain chances:

A large closed low will begin to influence the region from Tuesday through Sunday, bringing widespread cloud cover and continued chances for showers and isolated thunderstorms.

Temperatures will remain mild, with highs in the mid-70s and lows in the mid-50s, closer to the seasonal average.

7 day forecast:

Daily rain chances persist through Saturday, with total rainfall potentially alleviating our growing rainfall deficit but not fully eliminating the evolving drought conditions.

Conditions will gradually dry out by Sunday as the upper-level low moves out of the region.

Slightly above average temperatures and dry conditions look to settle in for next week.

With the ongoing precipitation and mild temperatures, residents of central Indiana should prepare for potential localized flooding and patchy fog conditions. The weather is expected to improve by the end of the week, bringing relief from the persistent rain.
