INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Indiana Conservation Officers were investigating the death of a 47-year-old Ligonier man whose body was pulled from a lake in Noble County.
Just before 9 a.m. Monday, conservation officers were notified that Michael Vinson had not returned home from a fishing trip to Engle Lake, roughly 2 miles south of downtown Ligonier.
Officers on scene found a kayak, paddle, and fishing equipment floating in the water and, using a side-scan sonar, found Vinson’s body in the water, the Indiana Department of Natural Resources said Tuesday.
At 4 p.m., divers recovered Vinson’s body from 25 feet of water, the Indiana Department of Natural Resources said Tuesday.
It’s not clear how Vinson ended up in the water and conservation officers did not say if he was wearing a life jacket.
Vinson’s death remains under investigation.
No other information was immediately available.
