INDIANAPOLIS — An investigation is underway after a pedestrian was critically injured Saturday evening on the city’s northeast side.
According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, at 7:39 p.m., officers were called to East 38th Street North Drive and North Tacoma Avenue on the report of a pedestrian being struck.
Police say a man was driving when he hit another man who was crossing the street.
The pedestrian was taken to the hospital in “extremely” critical condition.

Police say the incident was originally reported as a hit-and-run, but the vehicle stopped near Keystone, about a block away, after hitting the man. Police are actively interviewing the driver to gather information and say they will run tests to see if the driver was under the influence of any drugs or alcohol.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Crash Investigations team at 317-327-6549.
