Woman dies, man hospitalized after three-vehicle crash in Grant County

MARION, Ind. — A woman was killed and another was seriously hurt Saturday morning in a three-vehicle crash on a major highway in Grant County.

The crash happened at 10:21 a.m. at the intersection of State Road 26 and County Road 400 West.

A 33-year-old woman, who was a passenger on a motorcycle, died at the scene. The motorcycle driver was flown to an Indianapolis hospital with serious injuries.

Authorities are withholding the names of those involved as the Grant County Coroner’s Office and Coroner Stephen Dorsey investigate and notify family members.

A preliminary investigation by the Sheriff’s Office Accident Reconstruction Team determined a 2021 Harley-Davidson was heading east on State Road 26. The motorcycle crashed into a 2007 Jeep that was driving west and tried to make left turn onto 400 West in front of the bike. After the collision, the motorcyclist lost control and hit a third vehicle, a 2027 Kia, which was also traveling west.

Sheriff Del Garcia and the Sheriff’s Office expressed condolences to the families and friends of those involved in the crash.
