Greenwood man sentenced for rape, child seduction, and child exploitation

FRANKLIN, Ind. (WISH) — A 46-year-old Greenwood man has been sentenced to 34 years in prison for rape, child seduction, and 20 counts of child exploitation.

On Friday, Jeremy Blaker, 46, of Greenwood, pleaded guilty, and was sentenced by Judge Brandi Foster-Kirkendall to a total sentence of 40 years. Blaker will serve 34 years in prison, followed by six years of active probation. Additionally, Blaker will be required to register as a sex offender for life and participate in a sex offender evaluation and treatment.

The incident was reported in 2023 and the investigation was conducted by the Johnson County Sheriff’s Department. Evidence included photos and videos contained on a cell phone that was used by Blaker. After reviewing evidence presented at sentencing, Judge Foster-Kirkendall described Blaker’s actions as “predatory.” The court also noted that Blaker behavior was “deliberate” and that the harm to the victim would be “enduring.”

“Nearly three and a half decades in a barred cage where this criminal deviant can no longer rape or molest children is exactly what justice requires. Our goal was to ensure he is both incarcerated and incapacitated. Most importantly, our victim feels safe and protected. This how we protect children. Once again, I commend the outstanding police work done by our sheriff’s investigators. And I commend the amazing courage of our victim. It’s so hard to come forward and report these things. But now he won’t be able to hurt anyone else.”

Lance Hamner, Johnson County prosecutor.
