WESTFIELD, Ind. (WISH) — A lockdown at Westfield High School was lifted after an unverified threat of a shooting was received Monday afternoon, police said.
Police have not said whether any suspects are in custody.
The threat prompted the Westfield Police Department to respond immediately, with officers searching and clearing the school building to ensure the safety of students and staff. No shots were fired, and there were no reports of injuries.
Police said the lockdown was initiated out of an abundance of caution following the receipt of the threat by the school administration.
Police said the situation was understandably concerning for students, parents, and staff, and the police department has committed to providing updates as more information becomes available.
