INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A Dense Fog Advisory is in effect through 9 AM.

Today:

The fog is widespread across the region, with many experiencing visibility lower than 1 mile.

As the day progresses, cloud cover from the fog may linger, and additional clouds from an approaching system will increase throughout the day, limiting sunshine.

Thunderstorms northwest of the area overnight are expected to dissipate before reaching central Indiana, but outflow from these storms may reach northwest portions of the forecast area this afternoon, leading to a few storms developing later this afternoon northwest of Indy.

Tonight:

Widespread rain is expected as stronger upper energy moves in from the west. The highest rainfall amounts are expected south of central Indiana, with far southern areas.

Rain Wednesday and Thursday:

Looking ahead, from Wednesday through Thursday night, a broad upper low will increase rainfall chances and amounts, especially near and south of the I-70. Isolated thunderstorms are possible, with a few strong storms in southern Indiana late Wednesday. Lingering rain chances will transition to drizzle and lighter showers as the trough axis crosses Indiana.

Drying out late week:

From Friday through Monday, dry and warm conditions are expected as a ridge of high pressure builds northward into the Midwest. Temperatures will run warmer than normal through early next week.
