Colts sign veteran cornerback amid Kenny Moore injury uncertainty

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The cornerback room is growing for the Indianapolis Colts.

The undefeated Colts have signed veteran cornerback Mike Hilton, according to reports. The move reunites Hilton with his former defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo. The two spent the last four years together with the Cincinnati Bengals. Hilton also played the four seasons prior with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The nine-year veteran had his best season in two years ago. He recorded a career-high 84 tackles along with two sacks and two interceptions in 2023.

The Colts add Hilton to a banged up cornerback room. Indy’s lead defensive back Kenny Moore II left Sunday’s game at Tennessee in the second half with a left calf injury. Moore was seen postgame with a boot on his left foot.

According to the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Moore is expected to miss a couple weeks, but it’s “not a major injury.” More tests are expected are expected for Monday, per ESPN’s Stephen Holder.

Moore would be the second cornerback to miss a game for the Colts within the first month of the season. Charvarius Ward was sidelined for week two’s matchup against the Denver Broncos while in concussion protocol. Ward returned to the field in Tennessee after clearing protocol Saturday.

The Colts dominated the Titans Sunday to stay undefeated. This team is the first in Colts franchise history to not turn the ball over through the first three weeks of the season. They’ve also scored a combined 103 points through three games, which is the most by any Indianapolis-era Colts team ever.

Indy travels to Los Angeles this week to face the 2-1 Rams. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:05 p.m. Eastern time.
