INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Four people were arrested during a narcotics investigation in Vanderburgh County Wednesday, according to a Thursday news release by the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office.
In June, detectives with the Evansville-Vanderburgh County Drug Task Force, along with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF), began receiving information that Brian Anthony McCurry and 38-year-old Frank Scott Pascoccio Jackson were distributing large quantities of Schedule I controlled chemicals used to manufacture synthetic cannabinoids, also known as K2.
Both Jackson and McCurry are on supervised federal probation for narcotics-related convictions.
Detectives conducted surveillance on McCurry and Jackson to investigate their activities and associations. During the investigation, detectives identified 35-year-old Zaine Kiyle Conner as assisting McCurry in processing the chemicals for distribution.
On Wednesday, detectives executed search warrants at the residences of McCurry, Jackson, and Conner.
At McCurry’s residence, detectives found 20 pounds of marijuana, one-half pound of suspected psilocybin mushrooms, 170 grams of Suboxone strips, and 13.5 pounds of suspected Schedule l synthetic cannabinoid chemicals. Four juveniles were also found at the residence with McCurry and his girlfriend, identified as 39-year-old Destiny Marie Minton. Detectives additionally seized more than $20,000 in U.S. currency.
At Jackson’s residence, detectives found 139 grams of suspected Schedule l synthetic cannabinoid chemicals. Investigators believe that Jackson had been mixing the chemicals with a solvent and applying the mixture to paper. Two juveniles were found living at the residence with Jackson’s girlfriend, identified as 35-year-old Davina Anna Maria Johnson.
At Conner’s residence, detectives found 14 pounds of suspected Schedule 1 synthetic cannabinoid chemicals. A clandestine laboratory was discovered in an outbuilding on the property, which appeared to be used for processing and preparing the chemicals for distribution. Numerous firearms were also seized.
All suspects, except for McCurry, were arrested and booked into the Vanderburgh County Jail. McCurry has not been located at this time and an arrest warrant has been issued. The juveniles were placed in the care of the Indiana Department of Child Services.
It is estimated that one pounds of Schedule l synthetic cannabinoid chemical can produce up to 100 pounds of treated leaf, known as K2. Detectives seized more than 28 pounds of the chemical, which had the potential to yield 2,800 pounds of treated leaf and another carrier material.
