Athlete of the Week: Jack Sorgi
LIZTON, Ind. (WISH) — Tri-West football is off to a 3-1 start to the season and is ranked 11th in 3A this week, and a big reason for that is their quarterback, Jack Sorgi.
Sorgi is averaging almost 300 passing yards per game and has already thrown 13 touchdowns.
Sorgi has a special bond with his father, former Colts quarterback Jim Sorgi, who is on the Tri-West coaching staff as the quarterbacks coach and passing game coordinator.
“Definitely what he’s done with his knowledge and input of the game for the team has just been extraordinary,” Jack said. “To have that on and off the field when I get home, I can ask him questions, we can talk through film, and it’s just amazing to feel like I have that NFL knowledge, even in high school.”
“He’s a better person than he is a football player and he’s a darn good football player,” Jim said. “He’s a good kid. He’s a good friend, and Jack is just an example of that. He’s a good student. he does the right things. He’s got a good head on his shoulders.”
And getting to spend this time together is something Jim does not take for granted.
“I’m excited for this time,” Jim said. “I’m excited that we get to spend this time together. I wish every dad and son got to spend this kind of time together.”
Jack is committed to play for Louisville next season.
Tri-West gets back in action on Friday at home against Danville.
