Marcus’ 4 a.m. Thursday forecast
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A subtropical ridge will maintain dry and unseasonably warm to hot weather through the end of the week. High temperatures will reach the upper 80s to low 90s across the state. Low afternoon relative humidity values around 30% will contribute to fire weather concerns, although light winds should help mitigate the severity of these risks.
Today & Friday:
Clear skies and very light winds, with high temperatures ranging from the upper 80s in northeast Indiana to the low 90s in the southwest. An air quality alert is in effect through midnight for most of central Indiana, excluding west central and northwest counties, due to elevated ozone levels.

Tonight:
Temperatures will drop to around 60°F, with slightly warmer conditions south and west of Bloomington.
Pattern change:
The blocking pattern begins to break down, leading to a potential shift in weather conditions. By early next week, an approaching upper trough and a cutoff low are expected to bring a more unsettled weather pattern, with a few chances for much-needed rainfall across the region.
Next week:
Slightly cooler temperatures, with highs in the upper 70s to lower 80s due to increased cloud cover and rain chances.
The long term pattern does show relief from the late surge of summer heat. Highs should return to near normal levels for the end of the month. Unfortunately, despite the rain chances next week, the 8-14 day outlook appears to look dry, only adding to the ongoing drought issues across the area.
