GREENFIELD, Ind. (WISH) — A Hancock County judge on Monday sentenced four men to a combined 229 years in prison for a 2024 home invasion.

Brione Jackson, Lajuan Lee, Raynard Perry, and Darrion Riddle were each convicted of burglary and conspiracy to commit burglary after an 11-day jury trial in February.

On May 5, 2024, the four men — wearing masks — forced their way into a home on North County Road 300 in western Hancock County in the middle of the night. The homeowners were awakened by their dog before coming face to face with the intruders in the hallway, according to police.

A struggle followed, during which a shot was fired. Two adults and one child took cover in a bedroom closet. Two other children, who had been asleep in a separate room, were escorted safely out of the home. One person suffered minor injuries.

All four men were found and arrested shortly after charges were filed.

A fifth man turned state’s witness and was tried separately.

Hancock County Prosecutor Brent Eaton (R) credited his office and law enforcement in seeing the case through.

“This was a long road. Hundreds of hours of investigation, months of pretrial litigation, and a complex multi-defendant trial,” Eaton said in a release. “But what drove every step of this case was a family that was terrorized in the middle of the night, in their own home, with their children asleep down the hall. That is not something we take lightly in Hancock County.”
